Highlights
- Congratulations to Prof. Maxim Fedorov, who has been awarded the Helmholtz Award for 2012 from the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS). Prof. Fedorov will present the Helmholtz lecture at the IAPWS annual meeting taking place in Boulder, Colorado, from 30th September to 5th October, 2012.
- The West of Scotland Supercomputing Centre – ARCHIE-west – has now been installed in the University of Strathclyde. Prof. Maxim Fedorov is director of the new centre.
- David Palmer has been awarded a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship to carry out research in the group.
- Congratulations to Andrey Frolov for being awarded a poster prize at the 242nd ACS National Meeting 2011 in Denver, Colorodo.

Ratkova and M.V. Fedorov has been chosen for inclusion in IOP Select reflecting substantial advances or significant breakthroughs in the area of Physics of Condensed Matter.
- Our paper M.V. Fedorov and A.A. Kornyshev, Towards understanding the structure and capacitance of electrical double layer in ionic liquids, Electrochimica Acta, (2008), 53 , 6835-6840 is in the Top 5 of most cited papers of 2008 in Electrochimica Acta.
- Prof Fedorov has received an Invited Professor Award to visit the University of Lille, France
